At RATMA, a film made with a phone and a story worth telling stands on equal ground with anything else in the programme. We celebrate creativity, originality and the courage it takes to make a film and put it in front of an audience.

What Recognition at RATMA Means

Being selected, screened and recognised at a real film festival is a meaningful milestone for any filmmaker — and especially for those who are just starting out.
An award or nomination from RATMA is something you can point to. It shows that your work was seen, evaluated and valued by people who take short filmmaking seriously. It goes on your filmmaker CV. It goes in your portfolio. It is proof that the film you made and the story you told was worth the effort.
For students, a RATMA nomination or award is a real festival credit — the kind of recognition that validates creative work and opens doors to further opportunities.
None of that requires a production company, a professional crew or an industry background. It requires a film. Yours.
RATMA's Award History

RATMA ran successfully for ten years before its pause in 2021, celebrating thousands of filmmakers and over a hundred of award winners during that time. The stories, the films and the people recognised during those years are part of what makes RATMA worth bringing back.
Past winners, archive information and award history from previous RATMA festivals will be published here as our archival records are gathered and confirmed. We want to honour the films and filmmakers who were part of RATMA's first chapter properly.

Every award at RATMA starts with a decision to make a film and enter it. If you have a short film — or you are working on one — the 2027 festival is your opportunity to have it seen, screened and recognised.
Films 20 minutes or less. Open internationally. No professional experience required.
